Q: Do you accept my insurance?

A: Whether visiting our office for cleanings and exams, crowns, bridges, or other treatments, this is a common question among our patients. We understand that insurance and finances can have an impact on making treatment decisions. We work with you to ensure that you get the maximum benefit from your dental insurance.

We are happy to file all insurance claims as a courtesy to our patients, even if our office is not in network with your plan. If you don’t see your dental insurance carrier listed or have any other questions, please contact us.

Q: How often are cleanings and exams needed?

A: Prevention is a top priority at Flint River Dental. Routine exams and professional dental cleanings are essential for maintaining oral health. The American Dental Association recommends scheduling exams and cleanings twice a year. Patients with a history of periodontal disease or other oral health problems may need more frequent visits.

Q: What happens during routine visits?

A: During your routine visits, we perform a thorough visual exam to assess the health of your teeth and gums and note any changes that may have occurred since your last visit. When needed, we take digital x-rays to identify problems that are hidden below the surface. We use digital x-rays because they are more efficient and result in significantly less radiation exposure than traditional x-rays.

In addition to a comprehensive exam, professional cleanings are done by our hygienist. Regular professional cleanings are essential for removing plaque and tartar to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.

Q: When should I schedule my child’s first visit to the dentist?

A: Regular dental visits should begin shortly after babies start getting their teeth and no later than one year of age. We work to create a positive experience for children at every visit to our office to set them up for a lifetime of oral health. The first visit is intended to make children comfortable in our office, so we count their teeth, give them a ride in the chair, and show them how to hold a toothbrush. You can rest assured that your children will get the quality treatment and special attention they deserve.

Q: Do you offer dental implants?

A: At Flint River Dental, we offer dental implant placement and restoration. Dr. Darby has spent many hours studying dental implant placement and restoration. She has performed numerous implant procedures and has the skill and expertise needed to replace anything from a single tooth to full mouth reconstruction.

After your implant has been placed, we can create durable restorations to restore the function of your teeth and the appearance of your smile. Among the FAQ in Huntsville about dental implants are questions about discomfort during and after the procedure. You don’t have to worry about discomfort because we offer various types of sedation to help you remain relaxed during the treatment. We offer complimentary sedation for our dental implant patients.

Q: What can you do to help with dental anxiety?

A: Dental anxiety is very common, and we are sensitive to your concerns. We have helped hundreds of patients overcome their fear. We offer effective sedation options, including nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, helps to put you in a relaxed and dreamy state during treatment and has no lingering effects. Oral sedation is prescribed medicine that you take before visiting our office.
